Alongside teaching, Josefa writes, arranges and records music for clients: an original song for an occasion, an arrangement built around your voice or your group, or a finished recording of a piece you already have.
Original songs written for a person, an occasion or a project, words and music or music alone
Vocal arrangements built around one singer’s actual range, instead of a generic published key
Instrumental arrangements for piano, small ensembles, choirs and school groups
Rearranging a song that already exists so it works for the voices and players you really have
Lead sheets, chord charts and clean notated scores a musician can read and play from
Recording your voice or your piece in her studio, with coaching during the session if you want it
Who it's for
Who this is for
Singers
A song in your key
You have a song you love but it sits wrong in your voice, or you want an arrangement written around your range instead of fighting the original recording.
Songwriters
A melody that needs a score
You have the idea, the hook or the lyric, and you need someone who can harmonise it, arrange it and write it down properly.
Events and groups
Music for the occasion
A wedding, a quinceañera, a church service, a school performance or a tribute, arranged for the musicians who will actually be in the room.
An arrangement is where most amateur recordings are won or lost.
Anyone can record a track. What makes a performance sound finished is the arrangement underneath it: the right key for the voice, harmony that supports the melody instead of competing with it, and parts written for the players you have rather than the ones on the original record. That is the craft Josefa trained in, and it is the part most people skip.
What the piece is for, who will perform it and when you need it. Send a reference recording, a rough voice memo or a lyric, and she will tell you what is realistic.
Recording at her studio in West Miami-Dade
For voice and piano. She coaches while you record, which is usually the difference between a usable take and a good one.
Or worked entirely remotely
Scores, arrangements and lead sheets can be written and sent without you coming in at all. Plenty of clients never need to.
Timelines depend on the piece
A lead sheet is quick. A full original song or a multi-part arrangement takes longer. You get a timeline before any work starts.

FAQ
Common questions about studio work
Do I need to read music to work with her?
No, and most clients cannot. Sing it, hum it, send a voice memo or play her a reference recording. Writing it down properly is her job, not yours.
Can you arrange a song that already exists?
Yes, and it is one of the most common requests: the same song rearranged for a different voice, a different key, or a different set of musicians.
What do you need from me to start?
Whatever you already have. A recording, a lyric, a key you are comfortable singing in, the occasion and the date. If all you have is an idea, that is enough for a first conversation.
Who owns the finished music?
Work commissioned for you is written for you. Josefa agrees with you up front what you are getting and how you may use it, before any work begins.
How much does it cost?
It depends on the piece, its length and how much is written from scratch, so there is no list price. Describe the project in a message and she will quote it.
Is this separate from lessons?
Yes. You do not need to be a student, and studio work is not something that happens inside a lesson. Plenty of clients come for one and later ask about the other.
Can you work with a recording I made at home?
Often, yes. Send it and she will tell you honestly whether it is worth building on or whether re-recording the part will save you time.

Ms. Josefa has changed my life in ways I never imagined a piano teacher could.
As a 40-year-old medical professional with a very demanding and unpredictable schedule, I had always dreamed of playing the piano but convinced myself that I was too old to start. Instead, I was living that dream through my son when Ms. Josefa began teaching him. But she saw something in me that I had stopped believing in myself. She encouraged me to give it a try, believed in me, and helped me take the first step toward a dream I had carried for years.
Since then, she has been so much more than a piano teacher. She has been patient, encouraging, flexible, and understanding of the demands of my life. She meets me where I am, celebrates my progress, and reminds me that it is never too late to learn something new or pursue something that brings you joy.
Her impact on me goes far beyond music. She has helped me reconnect with a part of myself that I had put aside for so long. In a life filled with responsibilities, deadlines, and caring for others, piano has become something meaningful that I do for myself. She has reminded me that we are never too old to grow, to dream, or to surprise ourselves.
I genuinely feel that my life has a before and after Ms. Josefa. I am so grateful that she came into our lives, first as my son’s teacher and then as someone who helped me believe in myself again. I cannot recommend her highly enough. If you are thinking about learning piano but feel that it is too late, that you are too busy, or that you are not talented enough, I hope you find a teacher like Ms. Josefa. She will make you believe that you can.
Thank you, Ms. Josefa, for teaching me piano, but even more importantly, for helping me rediscover a dream and giving me the courage to pursue it.

I started keyboard lesson in tenth grade. After high school graduation I continued piano lessons with for about 1 year. I enrolled for higher education in the medical field, time during which I took private piano lessons for 5 yrs. I got to play Mozart’s Turkish March, Bethoven’s Für Elise, Massenet’s Le Cid Aragonsise amongst others classical compositions.
Then…life… no more piano lessons. For many years I played and practiced on my own…without guidance, next you loose what you’ve learned. My piano kept gathering dust until one day I said to myself “either I go back to study piano or I’ll sell my upright instrument”. I found Josefa Caviedes through a local conservatory. I started taking private piano lessons March 2023, at first for one hour weekly, then as I evolved started lessons two hours weekly.
It’ll be four years this coming March 2027 and plan to continue taking lessons with Josefa for years to come. During the last 3 1/2 years with solfège and piano technique, I have advanced in my piano learning. Josefa’s goal is for me not only to learn to play classic piano (in deed I just finished studying Beethoven’s Piano sonata #14 and Chopin’s Prelude in E minor op 28 but also I’ve learned to play modern songs such as My Endless Love or The Notebook).
I highly recommend Josefa to be your first or next piano teacher. Josefa will truly teach you how to learn, play and love the piano… she will support and inspire you to really learn piano the right way… also you’ll love her chamomile hot tea with honey. May God grant Josefa with a long and healthy life to continue being my piano teacher.
Jose.

Josefa has been teaching me piano for a little over three years now. As an adult I have made amazing progress as a Pianist and I get to play songs that I love to my friends and family. She is patient and makes sure to explore all the aspects of Piano skills that one can acquire. Josefa also tailors her teaching if there are specific skills or songs that I wish to focus on. If you really want to learn how to play Piano, your best bet is with her.
